When only the best is good enough

Every bride wants to look and feel her best on her wedding day. Choosing the perfect makeup can be a bit daunting. Here are my most requested bridal makeup looks to help you decide.

Naturally Flawless (above)

Without a doubt, the most requested bridal look is naturally flawless. This look will enhance your own beauty, without giving you the “overdone” look. After all, you want to be the most beautiful version of yourself and be recognisable to your husband to be. Ideal if you don’t usually wear much makeup. This look is especially good for outdoor weddings. With a focus on flawless skin and subtle eyeshadow, any bride will feel calm & confident on their big day.

Dramatic Eye & Nude Lip (or as I like to call it the “Kim Kardashian”)

Ideal for any season. I love the drama of this look, which includes a fuller brow, a variety of eyeshadow shades from light to dark, a perfectly contoured face, statement eyeliner, luscious lashes and a nude lip. This look requires lots of layering, and blending to give a perfectly polished appearance.

Sexy, Sultry Smokey Eye

Add a touch of sophisticated drama to your look by creating a smouldering smokey eye. From deep greys to lighter neutrals, the smokey eye is a classic look for your wedding day that will stand the test of time. Apply a medium shade over your entire eyelid and blend into the crease so there are no harsh lines. Eye Liner and false lashes can be added for extra effect. A subtle smokey eye using neutral tones looks fabulous on a mother of the bride/groom.

Going for Glow

Most brides desire a dewy, fresh complexion that not only catches the light but the groom’s attention. Glowing from within skin starts weeks before the wedding day and takes time and dedication. (See my blog Top Ten Pre-Wedding Bridal Beauty Tips) http://elizabethjosephlove.co.uk/blog.php For a radiant makeup apply moisturiser so that the skin is hydrated and use a primer before foundation. After foundation, lightly dust a setting powder before adding contour & blush.

Highlighters come in powder, cream or liquid form and can brighten the entire face. Using a soft, fluffy brush, apply highlighter carefully on the bridge & tip of the nose, the cheekbones, the inner corners of the eyes, the brow bone, the cupid’s bow and at the centre of the forehead.

Create a lasting luminosity by setting the makeup with a finishing spray.

‘The Only way is Glam’

Thank goodness celebrities have ditched the orange face, harsh contour & boxed brows and opted for a more flawless skin, blended contour and graduated sculpted eyebrows. Glamorise the eyes by adding a shimmer shadow to the eyelids and a cat eyed, winged out eyeliner to the upper lash line. Fluttery false eyelashes will open up the eyes. Chose a lip liner that is a similar shade or a tiny bit darker than your chosen lip colour, then apply a slightly lighter lip colour on the center of the bottom lip for an ombre effect. Blend in for a flawless fade.

Mesmerising Metallics

When makeup artist Pat McGrath teased us on the Versace & Margiela spring 2017 runway with her opulent Metalmorphosis eyeshadows, bridal beauty gurus around the world sat up and took notice. Consider adding gorgeous glitter or sparkly eyeshadows to the center of the eyelid and a liquid metal highlighter to the top of the cheek bones. This on trend bridal makeup will certainly dazzle and create dimension to the face.

A Vintage Classic

Think 1950’s Hollywood legends like Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren. An age of glamour and timeless beauty. This classic look transcends time and is especially striking for a winter wedding. Use a translucent setting powder to mattify the skin and apply a light wash of taupe brown eyeshadow into the crease of the eye. Apply eyeliner and extend it into a kitten flick. A red lipstick is applied and this elegant look is red carpet ready.

Boho Bride

Romantic, feminine and dreamy. This laid back look is perfect for an outdoor, summer, woodland wedding. Soft and natural, this look can be customized to harmonise with the chosen colour theme. Incorporate diffused highlighter, subtle smoked out eyeliner, pretty blush and a natural toned lip for an effortless, chic and enchanting bridal makeup look.

Bronzed Bombshell (Blush & Gold)

When I think “bronzed bombshell,” I think of JLO’s iconic, signature look at the Golden Globes. A look that will forever be in style. Perfect for a summer ceremony, this sun kissed look will sizzle at any wedding.

Use rose golds, browns and copper shades on the eyes and bronzer to contour and define the face, Add either a dusky rose colour or a coppery brown shade on the lip to complete this monochromatic bridal makeup.
